excellent stuff; from an excellent yet ominously overlooked band. a majority of budgies material is killer and has a uniqueness. They are an ecclectic
group; to say the least. Even though all these tracks on this album are out of this world; only one can show there flair to cover ballads and heavy hitters. Napoleon part one and part 2 is living proof of there uniqueness and abilities. It is a microcosm of the greatness that was there. Yet tragically never came to fruition from this cultish like following having band. They deserved at least what there contemporaries of the time received. Rush Zeppelin and Sabbath. There sound was every bit as strong. Now that I have blown steam on there behalf. Pick this album, cd, tape or 8 track up. Whatever means neccesary listen. U will be impressed. Unless ur deaf of course.

Budgie is a band that started making albums in 70's. They have inspired bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Soundgarden, and Van Halen. Although they haven't sold as many records as them, their music is amazingly powerful and great. When I first discovered Budgie - it was this album. Later - I sold it. Years later I bought the collection in which there was four tracks from this album. There was six other tracks too. I was in hook. I had to buy the first five albums remastered. When I heard them - I bought two more - and eventually all the albums. Still, "Bandolier" stays as my favorite Budgie album - it is also one of my favorite rock albums among Megadeth's "Rust in Peace", Rainbow's "Rising" and Petra's "Beyond Belief". There's actually no fillers at all. ALthough there's two peaceful songs "Slipaway" and "Who Do You Want for Your Love?" - they are no bad at all. They are amazing! "I Ain't No Mountain" is the only cover song in this album. It was also released as a single with "Honey" on the B-side! "I Can't See My Feelings" has a little bit experimental sounds but it is still great - Iron Maiden covered it as a B-side of "From Here to Eternity" single. "Napoleon Bona-Part One And Two" starts slowly and then BANG!!! The song continues with varying elements. "Breaking All the House Rules" was one of their biggest gig hits too. Although both it and "Napoleon" are more than 7 minutes long - they are defintely not boring. During "Breaking All the House Rules" I'd like to break something - the riff is so catching! Budgie is heavy rock made with big heart. It is amazing music, and Bandolier is their best album.

1975's Bandolier was the last 'classic' album from Budgie. With the predecessor effort In For The Kill!, the band had a slight darker sound, and started to add a few new elements to the sound, as they had toyed with on Squawk. Their funk influences are full force here and it actually makes their blend of heavy rock and lighthearted fun all the cooler. Breaking All The House Rules is a great opener, although after some repeated listens you can sense the band has thrown away some of its true thunder it had on earlier records. Who Do You Want For Your Love starts off slow, becoming a cool mix of funk and blues/rock riffs, though this song may not be for everyone. I Can't See My Feelings returns Budgie to the lavishing hard rock but the key cut here is the melodic I Ain't No Mountain. The ending wah-wah treatment guitarist Tony Bourge packs on comfirms the bands growing interest into more groove oriented sounds. The final cut, the amusingly titled Napoleon Bona Part 1 and 2 harken back to the bands old days, trailblazing Sabbath like heavy metal. Although this album has an obvious lighter edge than the other 4, it's definetly worth having. As anyone interested in metal's origins, the underbelly of the genre need check out masters like Budgie, UFO, Bloodrock, Mountain, Mahagony Rush, Blue Cheer, and Montrose. This would be the last time Budgie would sound 100% inspired and everything else they did falls into hardcore fan territory. These guys paved the way for what would become NWOBHM

SOME TRACKS ACHIEVE ROCK GREATNESS, JUST LISTEN AND SEE.

TRULY WORTH IF YOU LIKE GOOD SEVENTIES MEMORABLE CLASSIC ROCK WITH GUTS.

If you only own one Budgie CD this is the one. Some of the catchiest riffs you'll hear from the late 1970's. Once this one gets its claws in you its there to stay. This is a three piece band that gets it done!
